Constant Reminder for Self

To offer no resistance to life is to be in a state of grace, ease, and lightness. This state is then no longer dependent upon things being in a certain way, good or bad. It seems almost paradoxical, yet when your inner dependency on form is gone, the general conditions of your life, the outer forms, tend to improve greatly. Things, people, or conditions that you thought you needed for your happiness now come to you with no struggle or effort on your part, and you are free to enjoy and appreciate them – while they last. All those things, of course, will still pass away, cycles will come and go, but with dependency gone there is no fear of loss anymore. Life flows with ease.
Eckhart Tolle

Chanced upon this while I was searching for a meaningful quote for ease and grace for my email signature. Read the “Power of Now” halfway through many years back. Perhaps now is a good time to revisit the book. Interestingly the book was introduced by my dad years ago, this is a very rare occurrence as he is not really a book person.

Was also searching for other books by Eckhart Tolle, realized that many of his books are actually available on NLB as eBooks aside from physical copies. Would like to slowly digests his books!

May we flow with life, thru Ease and Grace.

Updates: recently joined a new firm and the Team name is Mǝ̉TA, which stands for Making Earnings Targets Achievable which I take to be for both the reps and the clients we serve.

Some other potential explanation for Mǝ̉TA..

  • Meaningful Existence To Actualize – we plan and work towards things happening
  • Motivating Everyone Towards Action – the best plan is the one that is executed
  • Monitoring Evolvements Timely Acutely – being aware of changes and updating in a timely manner
  • Maintaining Engagement Thoughtfully Always – regularly keeping in contact and being relevant

May we flow thru life, with Ease and Grace.

Thoughts on transitions

Sat outside KTPH ED and finished reading “When Breath Becomes Air” for like 4 hours straight.

You can’t ever reach perfection, but you can believe in an asymptote toward which you are ceaselessly striving.

When Breath Becomes Air, Paul Kalanithi

We can choose our response to events that happened or is happening, what happened to Paul was tragic but he refused to be a tragedy.

We make plans 10, 20, 30 or even 50 years down the road, forgetting that nobody knows what will happen the next moment. But do we then not plan? Or do we plan in such a way that when we depart one fateful day, things are going to be easier for those who are “left behind”?

Back at the same hospital where we bade farewell to grandma less than a year ago. Wondering if I had really processed the 5 stages of grief for the past 1 year plus for the two passings? These days I felt like I’ve gained acceptance and I choose to believe things happened in the best possible way it could have been.

As we move forward in life, there will be lots more transitions to make, I take it as progress if I’m able to handle each new transitions with tranquillity and grace. 💪🏻💪🏻

Looking forward to transiting to a new team and moving back to mum’s place in the near future!

On a side note, was abit annoyed that the paramedic took 3 highs in elderly as an age thing rather than a health thing. KK pointed out that it is sad that they seen so many cases that they "normalised" it.

Reflections

“欲穷千里目,更上一层楼”

Sometimes your well meaning actions can be distorted by the lens people choose to wear and they can see nothing but negativity, as if you are the root cause of their problem. (It saddens me, but such is life.)

When this happen, you can choose to talk sense to the person. But when his lens are so cloudy, it may not get through to him. Alternatively, I can choose to work on myself and improve so that one day this person may ask what got me to change. I choose to release negative energy I have on him, and not let his negativity affect me.

Sage learnt this poem in school and was reciting on the bus back home yesterday:

登鹳雀楼

白日依山尽,黄河入海流。

欲穷千里目,更上一层楼。

If we wish to see further, we need to go higher.

In a way, if we wish to understand more things, we need to raise our awareness. Don’t get caught in drama and continue to move forward. If we have the ability to bring betterment beyond ourselves, that is good. Otherwise just work on ourselves first so that one day we may be able to do greater good.

May we all live to fulfill our highest potentials and go through difficulties with ease and grace.
